Landscape and retreat
Far from the pace and distractions of everyday life, the project gives artists space to work in solitude, share ideas and reconnect with themselves, others and the surrounding landscape. The temple is embedded in its environment, with an archaic, stoic and restrained presence. Its isolation within the vast desert creates room for contemplation, inspiration and artistic production.
Arrival
Reaching the temple requires a journey through the landscape, on foot or by vehicle, often guided by local inhabitants. A gently sloping approach and a central stair lead visitors down into the building. The understated arrival allows the interior to reveal itself gradually.
Light and thresholds
The design combines an introverted character and monolithic form with a careful arrangement of light, materiality and transitional spaces. Passages and thresholds provide moments of pause, discovery and reflection. The temple provides the framework; its inhabitants bring it to life.
